I’m Jetty Noorland, born in The Netherlands and living in San Vito dei Normanni (Italy) since January 2016. Before moving to Italy I worked for about 20 years as a fitness instructor/personal trainer/lifestyle coach.
My husband Giovanni and I have a little holiday house - called lamia - for rent. We live in another lamia at 20 meters distance. It's situated in the country at about 3 km from San Vito dei Normanni. From here you can reach a lot of interesting places.
For example Brindisi: the following is an excerpt of a day on the bike to Brindisi with our guests Coby and Bernice.
As the day and night temperatures decrease and the trees begin to lose their leaves, you know that autumn is coming. The evening and night temperature are decreasing in Puglia at the moment but the day temperature? With around 30 degrees Celsius it is still very nice weather.
During our bike ride today in the direction of Brindisi we stop to take some pictures of a field full of tomatoes. Before we know it, we are drinking coffee with the people who are harvesting the tomatoes and we have a nice conversation. It is hard work, from 6 to 12.30 hours (in the summer from 4.30 to 12.00) in the burning sun and then later in the afternoon again. At the end of the day they feel their whole body, especially the back and knees. Knowing this you will look differently at the tomatoes in the supermarket.
After finishing our coffee we continue our bike ride towards the coast and then to Brindisi. Here we visit the dike which hopefully will give access to the castle next year. A visit to the "Monumento al Marinaio" should not be missed. With the wonderful weather we enjoy the beautiful view from here. Arriving at the city center we're sitting down at a bar with a nice view.
It's humid weather, the sky is blue but it feels like there is a thunderstorm coming. Slowly but surely, after visiting some other things, we leave Brindisi heading back to San Vito dei Normanni via the country roads, where a well-deserved ice cream is waiting for us

It is easy to do nothing, but then ... nothing changes, nothing improves, nothing evolves
